About the Iniciativa Occasio application

Iniciativa Occasio is a tool that runs entirely in your browser. It lets you:

• Create or open a local .fam file
• Manage the information of your Family Circles
• Save (download) the file again to your computer
• Save the file to your own Google Drive (optional)

Data we collect

Your work is done in your browser. So that you do not lose it, a copy is kept in this browser’s storage (see «Working copy in the browser»). That copy never leaves your device. To keep your work permanently, save the .fam file on your device or, if you prefer, in your Google Drive.

.fam files

.fam files are created and saved on your device or, if you choose the Google Drive option, in your own Drive. You are solely responsible for their custody, backup and privacy. This website’s server never receives or stores those files.

Optional use of Google Drive

If you choose «Open from Drive» or «Save to Drive», the application asks for access to your Google account with the drive.file permission, which only allows viewing and modifying the files created by this application, never the rest of your Drive. The .fam file travels directly from your browser to your own Drive: occasio.es does not receive, store or share that file or any data from your Google account. The authorization is kept only in the browser’s memory while the page is open.

We do not use information from your Google account for advertising, we do not transfer it to third parties, and nobody at Iniciativa Occasio can see your files. You can revoke access at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Iniciativa Occasio’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Working copy in the browser

So that you do not lose your work, the application keeps a copy of the open file in this browser’s storage (IndexedDB). That copy does not leave the device and is deleted when you press «Close file».

Cookies

This page may use technical cookies inherent to the WordPress system (for example, for the basic operation of the site). The Iniciativa Occasio application does not install its own cookies or use persistent storage on the server.

Who we share your data with

No one. Since we do not store genealogical data or require user registration, there is no personal or content information that could be shared with third parties. If you use the Google Drive option, your file is saved in your Google account, under Google’s terms and privacy policy; we have no access to it.

How long we keep your data

We do not keep any application data. The server does not store .fam files or information about Family Circles.

Your rights

Since we do not store your genealogical data, there is no need to request access, rectification or deletion of information related to Iniciativa Occasio. You control at all times the files you keep on your device or in your Drive. For any privacy question, write to us at iniciativaOccasio@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).

Additional information

This site does not use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics) or advertising networks. The activity you carry out within Iniciativa Occasio stays exclusively in your browser and in the files you decide to save.
